Buxted Parish Council initiated the Parish Plan in November 2003. Parish Plans are part of a Government-sponsored initiative to help breathe new life into rural communities, and enable local people to develop their own neighbourhoods in the way they want. Key to the project was that every person living or working in the community would have the opportunity to have a say – from the very young to the very old. Every household received a copy of the questionnaire that helped shape this document, and receives a copy of the Parish Plan. The completed Plan informed policy and direction and provide concrete evidence to support local initiatives, applications for grants, planning issues and much more.
