Potholes – Did you know?

The County Council’s highways teams are working to counter the huge increase in potholes in East Sussex following the recent severe weather. We are repairing between 400 and 500 potholes per day and are employing three times the normal number of maintenance gangs to deal with the pothole problem. We aim to repair large or dangerous potholes within an hour of them being reported and less dangerous potholes within five days. As a council, we have invested nearly £40million in resurfacing over 300km of road in the last three years, and have a further £34 million of resurfacing planned over the next two years. Our Department for Transport grant for pothole repairs is £1.5m
