UK-wide police forces commit to gender equality in support of the global HeForShe campaign
On Monday 21 May, senior police officers from police forces across the UK gathered at New Scotland Yard to commit to work towards gender equality. The event was held to build on the work started by Surrey and Sussex Police in 2017 as part of their commitment globally as United Nations HeForShe Thematic Champions for law enforcement. Witnesses sought after sports cars collide outside pub at Woods Corner, near Heathfield
Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the B2096 at Woods Corner, Dallington, near Heathfield, which happened at 5.30pm on Saturday (19 May) and involved two convertible sports cars. A man driving a BMW Z3 left the car park of The Swan Inn, turning onto the B2096 where it collided with a Mazda MX-5, resulting in damage to both vehicles and with the Mazda left undrivable. The BMW, despite damage to the front nearside wheel, failed to stop and turned into South Lane towards Ashburnham. It continued into Herrings Road where it was abandoned. The driver was then believed to have got into a Mercedes-Benz estate car which returned towards Woods Corner. PC Stuart Kenway, of the East Sussex road policing unit, said: “I am asking for the driver of the BMW, for anyone who saw what happened or anyone who may have other relevant information to come forward, please”. During the early hours on Monday (21 May), there was an attempted break in to a garage on Hamble Road in Pevensey. Access was not gained to the garage and nothing was taken (ref: 0439 23/05).
On Wednesday (23 May), a house and a shed was broken into in Nutley in Uckfield. Nothing was taken from the house but several items, including a lawn mower, a riding saddle and some keys, were taken from the shed (ref: 0666 23/05).
On Thursday (24 May), a house was broken in Wadhurst between 10:00am and 11:00am. Nothing was taken but there was damage to the rear doors (ref: 0497 24/05).
