Update on last weekend’s Operation Blitz activity

On Friday, officers working the Op Blitz shift were called to some nuisance motorbikes in Hailsham, but they had gone before we arrived. The High Street, Burfield Valley and The Holt were also patrolled. St Johns Church in Polegate was checked as we had received previous information about kids gathering and causing a nuisance. We then attended Goldsmiths in Crowborough where a number of youths starburst on our arrival. They didn’t have time to gather up their alcohol, so we poured it away! Other youths in the area were asked to clear up some litter and duly obliged. Just after 9pm we were called to a fight at a festival in Forest Row. Unfortunately, due to a number of unruly teenagers, this took up the rest of our evening. Saturday, the team were committed in Forest Row for the whole shift. A hostile group of young people were causing distress to residents who were trying to enjoy an event in the village. A number of kids were drinking alcohol and one was found in possession of cannabis. Parents were called by the Blitz team and requested to collect their children, which they all did. The alcohol and cannabis were seized and will be destroyed. We’ve recently had a significant increase in Op Blitz members, which is great to see. Please encourage people to join the scheme, especially if they’re suffering from anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhoods. All they need to do is email gareth.hollister@sussex.pnn.police.uk with their name and address (including postcode) and I’ll sign them up.
