A statement from Buxted Parish Council:
The zip wires were designed and constructed by experts in the construction of zip wires. The safety matting has also been supplied by a specialist company and meets the necessary safety criteria.
After the zip wires and matting were installed they were checked by an independent safety expert from RoSPA who signed them off as safe before they were opened for use by the public.
The Council was sorry to hear of the unfortunate accident to a lady using them and we considered it a sensible precaution to close the rides in order to review their safety. Following that review the Council is satisfied that the rides continue to meet the high safety standards that the Council required be incorporated in their design and construction and is satisfied there is no reason to be concerned about whether they are safe to be used. The Council found no reason why members of the community should not be able to use and enjoy the zip wires and so the decision has been taken to re-open them.
The Council wishes the injured lady well with her recovery
