The Uckfield Music Club concerts in St Margarets are one of the hidden gems of East Sussex Did you know you that some of the finest musicians in the country started their careers in our local music club? And that upcoming stars regularly play in the summer evening concerts- the highlight of the summer for classical music lovers in our area- in the magical setting of St Margarets Church in Buxted Park?
Uckfield Music Club (now in its 73rd year!) has always sought to provide a platform both for artists with established reputations, nationally and internationally, and for young talented artists in the early stages of their careers. Many musicians who were or later became household names and internationally famous came to perform for the club, among them guitarist John Williams, violinist Nigel Kennedy, oboeist Leon Goossens- not to mention Dennis Matthews, Julian Bream, Amaryllis Fleming, Ian Bostridge…The list goes on; and still today when audience members hear a performance by a young musician specially selected by the club’s talent spotting committee they think “We heard it here first… in Buxted! This one is destined for stardom!”
The concert promises a wonderful evening of music making- do come along!
